Cannot create drone.io account

Hi *,

I cannot create an account. I’ve tried it two ways:

  • drone.io -> CREATE ACCOUNT -> Request an Invitation (request access for early adopter testing cloud offering). I did it last week and there was no reaction so far.

  • beta.drone.io -> Authorize bradrydzewski (Drone Beta) -> “The system failed to process your Login request.”

It’s displayed on Github’s Authorized OAuth Apps.

What I’m doing wrong?

Regards, Stefan

Hi there, thanks for your interest!

drone.io -> CREATE ACCOUNT -> Request an Invitation (request access for early adopter testing cloud offering). I did it last week and there was no reaction so far.

When you request an invite to beta cloud offering you are added to a waiting list. We are currently processing invites in small batches. When your invite is processed you will receive an email.

beta.drone.io1 -> Authorize bradrydzewski (Drone Beta) -> “The system failed to process your Login request.”

This is my personal test instance and is not open to the public

What is the estimated waiting time? Just a lower and an upper bound would be nice.

I can provide a bit more detail …

We are running a pilot program with 3 customers, with the following goals:

  1. understand technical problems and points of failures we will face with the bring-your-own-agent approach
  2. understand the hosting and supports costs, and
  3. adjust and finalize the pricing accordingly

In order to roll this out at scale we also need to support GitHub applications (see https://github.com/drone/drone/issues/2422). I am also inclined to wait until Drone 1.0 is released before we start to scale, to prevent a potential migration nightmare on my end.

Based on everything above, I expect it will be around 2-6 months before the offering is generally available. I should also mention that we will only launch the service if the pilot program is successful, and we determine it is a viable business opportunity (I very much hope it can be).
